Helmut Schleweis is the new President of the German Savings Banks Association (DSGV). Today, the General Meeting of the DSGV unanimously elected the 63-year-old Schleweis for a term of six years. Schleweis succeeds Thomas Mang, the acting DSGV President, who took over from Georg Fahrenschon on 24 November 2017.

The Group includes 390 Savings Banks, seven Landesbank Groups, eight Landesbausparkassen, eleven direct insurer groups, as well as many additional financial service providers and other associated companies, with a total of over 320,000 employees. “I look forward to assuming the responsibilities of this office with great conviction and determination”, said Schleweis.

“With Helmut Schleweis, we have elected a renowned expert as President, who combines his passion for Savings Banks with commitment to an efficient group of independent financial service providers. He enjoys a great deal of backing and will be very good for our Group”, said Thomas Mang, the acting DSGV President.
