The DSGV represents the interests of the 341 savings banks*, the Landesbank groups and DekaBank, as well as five state-owned building societies, nine primary insurance groups within the Savings Banks sector, and numerous other financial service companies.
The DSGV coordinates decision-making within the Savings Banks Finance Group and defines its market and business strategy – from product development and processing to risk management, overall bank management, card and payments services, and holistic advisory approaches for all customer segments. In addition, the DSGV administers the sub-funds of the Landesbanken and regional giro centers as well as the sub-fund of the state building societies, all of which form part of the institutional protection scheme recognized under the German Deposit Guarantee Act.
Last but not least, the DSGV is the sole shareholder of the operating company of the Group’s central educational institution: the state-recognized University of Applied Sciences for Finance & Management in Bonn. This is the new name of the former University of the Savings Banks Finance Group, to which the Savings Banks Finance Group’s Management Academy was transferred on April 1, 2020. Other joint institutions include, for example, the Foundation for Science with its scholarship program, as well as the German Sparkassen Foundation for International Cooperation.
