Karolin Schriever takes office as an Executive Board Member of the DSGV

01.09.2022 - Press release Nr. 35

Smooth transfer of office in the management of the German Savings Banks and Giro Association (DSGV): Karolin Schriever has taken office today as a Managing Director of the DSGV. Starting on October 1, 2022, she will take over the duties of the long-standing Executive Board member Dr. Karl-Peter Schackmann-Fallis, whose contract expires on October 31, 2022 due to retirement. She will run the Department of Economics, Politics and Banking Management in the DSGV office.

At the end of March 2022, the DSGV Executive Board unanimously elected Mrs. Schriever to the three-member management of the Central Association of the Savings Banks Finance Group. The association is headed by DSGV President Helmut Schleweis. Dr. Joachim Schmalzl is also a member of the association's management as Executive Board member, who is responsible, among other things, for the business and digitization strategy.

"The savings banks and their association make the difference for millions of people throughout Germany every day. They bear a special responsibility for the unity of our society especially in the current, economically challenging times. Therefore I am looking with great respect and zest for action to the tasks that the committees of the Savings Banks Finance group has entrusted to me," said Karolin Schriever.

For Schriever, joining the DSGV association management looks like comeback to her professional roots: she completed training as a bank clerk and a trainee program for securities, loans and insurance in the former Sparkasse Werl.

After studying economics at the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences, since 2017 she worked for KPMG AG Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft, as the responsible partner for accounting, banking supervision and sustainability. Schriever possesses 15 years of experience in advising and auditing banks and savings banks on topics of commercial reporting, accounting and supervisory law.

"Reliability and continuity have always been strengths of the savings banks and their network. I am looking forward to working with an experienced colleague and to the smooth transition that Karolin Schriever and my long-standing colleague Karl-Peter Schackmann-Fallis have agreed. Therefore, we in the DSGV Executive Board together with the entire team of the DSGV offices in Berlin, Bonn and Brussels will continue to provide the best possible commitment to the concerns of the Savings Banks Finance Group and its approximately 50 million customers," claims DSGV President Helmut Schleweis.
